I disagree, ScotGov have turned everything they've touched to cack.

I'm not saying DEFRA is any better, but at least we'll be on the same page as the rest of the UK, not floundering around in the idiotic drool from some grinning SNP jobsworths.

If the UK has to derive trade agreements with the rest of the world then it's best done swiftly and efficiently. If Scotland's position was left to the 'Shortbread Senate' to debate we would never achieve a consensus, as Sturgeon would doom it to failure just so she could blame 'The Tories'.
I would agree with you if Scotland had the same warmth, daylight hours, length of winter, depth of soil.........

We don't though, we farm in a far harsher environment.

The computer system debacle should have seen civil servant heads roll, but as already said, at least the Scottish government has reacted with a loan scheme, when Westminster has done sod all.

If RPID had been able to find its erse with both hands, then I would run a mile from DEFRA. But sadly that is not the case.

Lets pull the chain, and start again.

Your constant use of the term 'Shortbread Senate' tells us all we need to know (as I see it) regarding your position on Scotland having any of its own legislative / executive power.

You may as well write "we are too stupid " to look after our own affairs.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Unionist cringe?

I voted for the establishment of the 'Scottish Parliament', but i'm frankly embarrassed that it's been hijacked by a single agenda. I urge you to watch 'Scottish Parliament TV' and see for yourself the quality of debate in the main chamber and the committee rooms, it's utterly shambolic, that what should be a tremendous resource for the benefit of the nation has been hijacked and squandered.

Ok, it should be: "we are too stupid"

And for the record, its: "we are too stupid".

Nationalist arrogance?

Nope, just a belief that the (non-stupid) people of a country are the best people to look after the affairs of that country.

It's the norm the world over.

I see you've edited your spelling! :D

And people say the Scottish education system is on its knees, tsk!

The 'Scottish Parliament' have not passed a single bill in over 12 months (n)

So, just exactly have they been doing with their time, and our money?

Answers on a postcard, C/o your MSP.

Oh I give in!

We should just close down all Scottish institutions now and allow our larger neighbour to take care of our affairs.

That's what every other country on earth does.

Rant all you want, but for goodness sake campaign to keep control of Scottish payments in Scotland.

Westminster obviously want centralised control, doing away with the devolved Scottish, Welsh and northern Irish governments.

You've already said that the sheep tagging lunacy demonstrates that we have a different agricultural scenario here. Can you imagine how screwed we'll be if Defra get control?

Don't know anything about Defra, I just WANT. MY. MONEY.:greedy::greedy::greedy::greedy::greedy:

Well chaps anybody received anymore income from scotgov? Not a penny here.... and still scunnered.

Now if I was a synic I would guess (calve and lfa) payments will turn up about the last week of the month before we go to the polls a week later and we will forget all the fudging mess (not a chance Nicola btw (n)).

The land reform bill was passed in march 16 just before they closed for the election.
No sooner than they got re elcted, brexit hit us, and that has dominated everything in case you hadnt noticed.

Got a communications log letter tonight detailing all bps and greening payment money due and details of loan money already paid. Checked digital banking and money is in as well, 5hrs before the deadline!

Same here, no Greening, just a pittance of a percentage paid last week - maybe 10%. Perhaps Audit Scotland would like to take a wee look at the books eh? Perhaps he meant to say that 90%of farmers have received 10% of their due.

Tellingly, in the Committee meeting, when queried as to why the 2015 payments are made after the 2016 payments (and a few other related issues), the civil servant responded "debt control". Didn't think much of it at the time but now it seems clear - they have spent the money.
