Farmers earn more from YouTube than their crops

How is the funky farmer not sent more stuff to demo. He has 133k subs. It would be the perfect opportunity for Massey or McCormick to advertise for small money with him. Another crowd would be Autoglym products. Send him out all the free products and send him a grand to do a before and after on his dung spreading tractor. Surely that would be very cheap advertising.

The funky farmer is a really genuine and nice guy, I think you can't help but root for him quietly and I wish him every success. He strikes me as an honest to God real-deal chap and far from a massive video extrovert/subscriber junkie.

It's very important for these youtuber guys to explain what they are doing as best they can for a non-farming audience.

I bet Lord Muck is a good laugh in real life.

Like mentioned above - the diffrence between Tom Pemberton and Olly is that Tom wants a pickup and instead sees that as more finances coming out his account that he could spend on improving his farm so buys a feed bin and concrete instead, and I've all the respect in the world for the guy, he comes across as a likeable, hardworking guy. Plus he wants to fund his new project at the farm on his own, refused to start a "gofundme" that some of his followers were telling him to . Plus his dad is a character :D

Meanwhile Olly is buying a brand new pickup and because his dad has ordered a new car that's not been deliverd they're buying a new Can Am for checking cows, because " it'll pay for itself " :sour::facepalm: Buy he wants his followers to pay for the restoration of his 135, by buying his sh!t merch, because it's so expensive. Don't get me started on his " contracting buisness " that he's banged on about, yet hasn't done a bit of work, but pays others to do his contracting. Now a " groundsworks " business... plus any other way of blowing money without thinking about it.
Spoilt little kid, who also goes through his videos deleting any comment that can be seen as critical of his work.
His " followers " lap it tho, so more power to him, i guess.

So glad I don't watch Olly anymore. He'll soon realize that he can't do it all.

Tom's dad is a real character!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D He made me laugh in the video when they showed their tractors and vehicles. Tom's dad said "This is our Manitou it's quite old so there is no much plastic on it therefore everything is made of steel and tin which means at the end of the day when we have finished with it, it will weigh well in scrap!".

I don’t mind watching some of these my blogs/vlogs and if they’re going to make a few pounds out of it fair do’s. It is the one that has brought farm stimulator into real life that really peas me off, he just comes across as a spoilt little rich kid. I’d like to hear what his neighbours and local contractor think of all his plans.

Which ones that?

He hasn't been a very good advert for Ideal anyway.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that. He's been honest, and has pointed out several times that he has been well looked after by AGCO and that he hasn't had to pay for any of this warranty work. including at the moment when all of his combines are in at the dealers having various things rectified ready for the new season. Granted yes it shows that the combines haven't been perfect but I think it's also shown that AGCO have made an effort. He often does point out a feature that he does really like or that works well for him too. Whether good or bad it has at least got the product out in front of large audience in the real world, which has to be worth something

I quite agree, however, if I was in his position I would be disappointed with the machines I think.

Maybe the reason why he couldn't get an X9 from JD last harvest was because JD were a bit frightened in case the exposure went worng whereas either Millenial Farmer or Brian had an X9

Interesting point, it's a whole different thing running the number he is in a lot of ways to over hear where one unit is the norm. when running 7(?) as I think he is, if one goes down he's still running at 86% capacity with the other 6. Granted yes it's not ideal but it's not the same as over here with a single Lexion 8900 stood still with the harvest at 0% capacity.

Perhaps he just isn't on JD's radar at the moment yet, also he is in Canada, maybe that has something to do with it? There will be a lot we don't know.

That's ones of the things I've noticed since getting into following farmers on Youtube. It makes me feel like I know their business quite well when in fact I haven't got a clue really, like anything a little bit of information is worse than a lot!

Mike seems to be swinging back to some jd combines as well.

The first JD combine was an extra machine for more land taken on. Obviously whatever the area taken on is, does not warrant a new machine hence why he bought a used one about 3 years old.

The 2nd JD combine is his dads because his dads ideal fired so again I wouldn't read to much into it because it was his dads choice, who's old school and likes what he likes which is a JD combine.

Mike also said they were still holding lots of spares of the S690's so it makes sense to use those spares up if they can find machines are good deals which they have.

What I have taken from his recent video's is that nothing will change and the ideals will stay for the duration of the agreement, with Agco backing them up brilliantly, and that over the coming season they will demo numerous machines in readiness for their next big bulk purchase of 7 new machines which will be backed up by the two used JD's they have just bought. He has also said recently they are under combined so building that up with a couple of used ones seems a very sensible approach.

As for changing stuff all the time. They don't as its all organised and timed. When my neighbours son worked a season there a few years ago, everything was bought or hired on a fixed term. I think he said combines, tractors and sprayers were 3 seasons and drills were 5 seasons. So to us looking in it always seems he is changing brands when in reality it is all planned. I think I have said before each sprayer was covering 100,000 acres in 3 years so its probably more now. Thats a hell of a lot of miles on the wheel motors and millions of litres of water through the pumps and pipework etc. They can't afford downtime so they swap them before they start having issues. If they are on a HP agreement and the monthly payments remain similar to swap into a new machine then why wouldn't you do it?
