This story doesnt seem to be on the main stream media .I wonder why? Thousands of German farmers blocking roads.

what are they protesting about ?
Assuming it's prices/incomes whatever, did German TV report on milk price protests in the UK ? Why would they ?

anyone on here this evening wanting a good moan about anything, at least go to the effort of doing it on the food strategy consultation, 5 hours left to submit, at this point in time I would wager that the number of responses from AR greatly outnumber those from livestock farmers. No point moaning about any future government policies that hit your livelihoods after the event.

If it's the same reason the protests in Belgium kicked off, it's because of falling incomes, and the constant attacks on farmers of causing global climate change and being made to feel hated by the public. All the negativity towards the farming industry has boiled over, into the demonstrations that we dont hear about on the news.

And uk farmers are too spineless and divided to protest at all
I can remember a few years back when oil refineries were blocked by farmers and a major road blocked , unfortunately there didn’t seem much public support when listening to the radio news etc , abroad farmers do seem to hold jo public’s attention more so it’s not that uk farmers are spineless but the public in general don't seem to sympathise with farming activities and probably mores the point we seem to be getting the rough end of the stick lately with every trend setter wanting to jump on the vegey-global warming-extinction etc alarm bell ringing crap.

Our protests from now on need to be made via facts not by blocking roads towns or cities , trouble is the facts don’t seem to be coming across as good as the other sides shouting.

Pi$$ing off the public doesn't help your cause, just look at how the extinction rebellion protests in London have backfired, especially when they held up the tube.
We need to get the facts across that it's not just our livelihoods, it's their food supply that we are trying to keep safe and secure.
Often when it's on the TV or radio it's "the farmers" as if it's nothing to do with anyone else, as though we are a different species to the rest of the population.
This week, when a story was out about apples going unpicked, the point was made about how many school children could have been given an apple a day, this connects farming to consumers and is what we need more of.
I'm suprised that there hasn't yet been a story on the news about next years wheat crop not having been planted due to the rain, when it is, it needs to be about "joe publics" bread, not whingeing farmers.

Just found this excellent article which catalogues the events of the British fuel protests a few years ago.

I went to Stanlow,Ellesmere Port and picketed at the time.

I remember parking on a verge with a few mates and a little into the mile walk to get to the line I discovered i‘d still got my pocket knife on me so I hid it in a crash barrier to collect it on the way back, just in case there were police who got a bit funny.

This is a good read.

That is a good read,
Nice quote at the end there “these idiots”

It never really helped ag though did it. Fuel jumped 4x the price of what it was beforehand. And this article just goes to show the length a gov would go to to break a protest.

You can just see the bbc spinning it here now. “Subsidy junky farmers in diesel guzzling tractors cause hospitals to turn patients away as they drive into our city’s and cause pollution” wouldnt life be better off without them.....
