IIRC you could have the pedal in a lower, more comfortable position if you didn't need the travel to get the pto clutch.
I'm watching 'our man' Guy Martin building a tank at the mo, when he's finished I'm going back into the office to see if I can find what we paid for our 165.
Well I can't think anyone knew that on the farm I worked on. It was a multi power and ipto so did not need the 2nd stage. It did pull quite well but not so nice to drive as the longer 188 with PAVT and front wheel weights.

On tractors with a dual clutch the arm on the clutch operating shaft had 2 holes. If you were on loader work and didn't need the pto you could use the hole that made the pedal only operate the transmission clutch. This meant that the pedal was much lower and therefore not as tiring on your leg when constantly using the clutch.

Slightly but only just off track, We bought 2 new DB s that autumn and I believe the cost just about £770 for the little 770 and £990 for the bigger 990. I believe they were slightly more money than the equivalent Ford.
Think father paid about £1500after trading in a fergie 20

Still got the full set as well our 185 was ordered at the end of April 73 got it on the 12th of Dec the print is worn of middle of each page looking at it £1956 new just shows how inflation was at that time traded it in against the first 590 and got £4750 for it.
During one year in the 1970’s MF tractors increased by 4 X 10% steps. This was the maximumallowed under government rules. I expect other companies did much the same
