Vine farm was a velcourt farm which was opened once a year in conjunction with BASF
It was a really good event, usually held at the same time as Sprays and Sprayers at the Ciba Geigy HQ. I seem to remember they did a good lunch...

Going back to earlier posts, I remember John Lamdkin was one of the first converts to the Fendt religion to my knowledge. However, they didn't seem such a wonderful marque when , after about 2 or 3 years, the gearbox failed and cost about £6,500 to put right, and that's a 1980s figure.

Always thought Easton Lodge, Easton on the Hill sounded like a nice farm, when I found it on google earth it was right next to the main runway of RAF Wittering.

I remember that Easton Lodge had all the grass around the runways and they made 7,000 bales of hay every year.

Yes, it was better than any of the current output.
There was also a farm called Cowbyres that FW ran as I remember.
Easton Lodge also took on Mill Farm, Sawston for a while and travelled to work it. That place belonged to some firm that made paper if I remember right.
Mr Lambkin had some funny ideas, what with his blind spot for the hair standing on end repair bills that their attachment to Fendt tractors brought; in the face of the fact that the old Ford tractor on the fleet only ever cost the price of an oil and filter change. Then there was the annual bill from APH, for almost the full value of the old 8060 they used to hire in.
But it was honestly reported, and gave some comfort to the rest of us on 55cwt wheat ground.
Did the farm at Tring have dairy at the same time as the self-pick enterprise or was that a different place?

I did a harvest when I was a student at Sawston - it was owned by Spicers paper mill next door.

Lambkin used to turn up unannounced - the first we'd hear was when his portly black labrador would bound round the corner with Lambkin bellowing 'HECTOR' as it charged off to 'roound up' the rare breed flock...

Oh, and we ran a mighty NH 8040 and much excitement when a spanking MF 3085 arrived to do the main cults/drilling!
