The Addington Fund, FCN, Forage Aid, RABI and RSABI are five agricultural charities that provide support and are operating nationally across either England and Wales or in the case of RSABI, Scotland.

Each of the five charities provides diverse and unique support to the agricultural community, details of which will be highlighted in more depth across the Farming Help Awareness Week.

Farming Help is an alliance, created by the charities, to provide a platform to consider how they can work together to secure the best possible outcomes for farming people.

The five charity chief executives meet regularly to discuss key issues and trends that are impacting farming people. Opportunities to support each other are also explored, relationships developed and best practice discussed and shared.

Additional Farming Help meetings are organised during times of crisis for people working in agriculture.

Since the formation of the alliance

Since the formation of the alliance, support has been received from the Prince’s Countryside Fund, the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust and several other key stakeholders.

Farming Help Awareness Week runs from February 22 to February 26 for 2021 and helps to promote the work of the five national charities.

During the week the charities will be sharing posts across their social media channels to highlight to the farming community the range of support available.

For 2021 the Farming Help Awareness Week is linking to the Farm Safety Foundation’s Mind Your Head campaign, helping to increase a wider understanding of the services and support available for the farming community.

Originally launched by the foundation in 2018, the Mind Your Head campaign raises awareness of the growing issue of poor mental health within agriculture.

The campaign and work of the foundation surrounding farmer’s physical and mental wellbeing has improved the awareness of farm safety and helped to highlight the need to remove the stigma around mental health.

If you are going through a difficult time or are concerned about a neighbour, family member of friend, the Farming Help charities can help.

Contact a member of the FCN team on: 0300 111 999, who will listen in confidence and connect you directly with further support if you wish. In Scotland, please call the RSABI helpline on: 0300 111 4166.
