there's a brand spanking new JCB Fast Track lime spreader in the district, sorry, I don't know what number it is and yes it is a pathetic picture. I was trying to be covert and then fumbled my phone.:p

If it wasn`t for the yellow fergy, not moaning about stupid rules and talking about combining in the dry,,,,then looking at the pictures it could nearly be over here in the UK.....Bang goes my picture of Aussie land, dry dusty, full of sheep and bush fires fighting off spider in the loo and brown snakes in the paddocks.:)(y)

Mayb I should put some pics up of my area. Though not many sheep left now as they do the cropping land no good

Haha yes, Australia is a big country with many different local climates and landscapes. Over the years I've spoken to many British farmers who moved over here and they say that Northwest Tasmania is very similar to certainly much of the UK in landscape and climate but just shifted a few points in the dryer, warmer direction. I'm certainly glad we don't get the cold and snow like you do.:p PS I saw a wriggly stick yesterday.:LOL:

why are sheep detrimental to the cropping land? I thot they were cheap??? weed controlers

In our area the dry sand after getting peddled with sheep blows away. Weeds remove moisture that we can't afford to lose. Yields tend to be lower as a result.

Some weeds are very stringy so need to be sprayer otherwise the seeder can't get through.

Fences get in the way of shifting equipment from field to field.

Land can get very rough slowing the sprayer down losing output. Seed to soil contact and seed depth will suffer on rough land because moisture is usually borderline at seeding the depth is critical.

Lighter sand can become non wetting with sheep or vehicles on it. Water then runs off and doesn't infiltrate to grow the crop.

I'm drilling lucerne here, 25kg per Ha with 200kg of DAP under it.

I then had to go and spread fert on thirty Ha.

I then went back and rolled the lucerne and picked up the boulders while I went. It was 2am by the time I finished and it didn't end up raining. It lookes like tomorrow's rain it fast becoming a noneventuality too.:( Lookes like it will be all down to irrigation if the wind ever stops.
