Farming in France : 2022

Hello everyone,

I’ve been reading the epic 2013 Farming in France thread and wanted to kick off a new thread if that’s alright with everyone.

My wife is French and I’ve always dreamt of living in a stone farmhouse with loads of land to be self sufficient. The idea of buying somewhere cash and not be burdened with huge monthly mortgage payments each month real appeals.

Was wondering what the current climate is like for farming in France. I fancy a bit of a life change and want to raise the kids with quality air.

does anyone have any advice?

Wife from Normandy region originally, near Le Mans. Nowhere in particular, noticed Haute Vienne region was very cheap but maybe that region is too lost ?

With a French wife you can do as you wish, just look on the Le bon coin for a place to rent, for 6 months and travel around and see what suits you,
