Farming in France

I was gonna ask someone to give a brief breakdown of how it works literally, I love buying machinery so could work well!
Joking aside that sounds workable and I would hope to be a 1 man band type of job, in uk I’m a sole trader.

That scheme, if that IS what you are looking at, doesn’t work for farmers at all. You are taxed on turnover, so next to no book keeping required, but hopeless when your business buys in stuff

For eg, it’s popular with B and B when you are just selling your time. We have a new mechanic started up, again fine, except right at the outset he made it clear we had to buy ALL materials

As a nosey observer, I’d be interested to hear the negative views too. I’ve yet to hear from anyone that wasn’t glad they made the move, on here or in RL.
My view isn't negative it's reality

I didn't wish to continue mixed farming , just crops , tell me how to make money on 6 ton / ha wheat and I'm in .

I've always thought the less you put in the less you get out .
You've got sh!t , a valuable commodity in france

And more so going forward by the looks of things

I was getting out of hand on spending in the uk. Massive BG contrôle spend, 5 expensive fungicides, huge urea application. Yes, circa 9 tonnes but at what cost?
Most years dried more than half.
6.5 can start to look more profitable than 9🥴🤔

My wheat last year did about 6 tonnes, bought seed, sprayed a pre em and it had 250kgs of urea didn’t put sprayer back on after pre em. Quite cheap to grow, pity I sold it at 190€ it’s considerably more now 😞.
I keep saying.. the only thing that matters is the figure on the right hand side at the bottom.

You can sell it for 300 but if it's cost you 301 to grow...

Slightly off topic but what sort of yields of lucerne per hectare would farmers be getting in limoges/ aquitaine region (non irrigated)? Would be much farm to farm sale of lucerne hay?
