Yep, you know what the pr1cks will say... they'll turn round and say that "ag is now producing a huge percentage of overall emissions. Aren't farmers bad!" The goal posts will be moved to suit their story... again!

Hopefully most will see through their lies, damn lies and statistics but the ba5tards will still try it on!

Nope, their bird's flown, they can't try to make hypothetical claims any more because there is now fact.

We're 5 weeks into lockdown and pollution levels have plummeted; yet agriculture has carried on as usual.

This puts the idiotic Mr Monbiot & Co. in a difficult position, their finger pointing at us won't wash now. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah but a lot of ag pollution is slurry and more tanks will be either empty or not being filled now the cows are out

(He says listen to our slurry tanker guzzling up sh!t to spread on 1st cut aftermath ..........)

But, according to that nice Packham fellow, we’re all at home twiddling our thumbs.

(Apparently there was a good program on Primates on Sunday evening. I wouldn’t know; as soon as that git’s narration started, it got turned off!)

@Danllan what are pollution levels now and what where the levels before the lockdown?

I just want some hard facts to throw at these anti farming types
For that purpose I'd choose info' from two media org's well known for being to the left, the BBC and The Guardian:

You can do a search for more detail and more reports, but the principle is repeated across the board: less vehicle movement and industrial activity as seen pollution plummet, despite more use of domestic power.

It was a good programme apart from his ' knowledgeable' commentary. The BBC loves these two clowns.

As much as I like your enthusiasm which articles are you referring to
that suggested farming was one of the top 3 polluters?

This is a bit of a nonsense post as of course pollution will have plummeted
as transportation is a much bigger culprit and as most of the population haven't
been going anywhere then that would have an obvious effect.

Well done, yes, it is obvious, bl**dy, obvious. The point is that many of the self-appointed 'green' lobby have decided to aim at agriculture - often because of a vegan political agenda. But people need food and don't want to change their lifestyle or diet, the current stat's demonstrate to them what the reality.

It was obvious before to anyone with an ounce of common sense :banghead:
This wont stop the green ,vegan lobbyist movement with all their mates ,
they will just try to attack from other angles like intensive farming
production methods could potentially lead to easy transmission of viruses
through animals.
Anyway I thought you would be in support of Monbiot rewilding
thousands of acres of West Wales and turning it into a Welsh Centre parcs.

Well, farming does cause pollution, the reason pollution is down currently is due to lack of planes, reduction in shipping, factories etc..

farming carries on but if all farming stopped you'll see less methane produced etc..

Yes, we agree it is obvious. I'm not banking on stopping the vegan types bitching, but the more ammo there is to counter them and to show Jo Public, the better.

Yes, I am keen on protecting as many native species as possible, and on reintroducing any that can be brought back without an overall detrimental affect. Who isn't?

An ideolog never lets the truth hold him down! Onwards comrades
See above.

If you held your breath there'd be less CO2 and if you stopped eating there wouldn't be any need for farming. Let us know how you get on, either with a personal demo' or suggesting them to others. (y)

Of course some farming creates pollution, we live in societies that currently need to pollute to operate. The rational choices that need to be made are, then:

1) What do we absolutely have to have in the short to medium terms?; and,

2) What can we do to allow us to carry on doing what we want but in a less / un-harmful way?

We'll get there, most people have come around to these conclusions, they will make them political imperatives and that will get something done by those wanting to be elected. In democracies...

Seems the short lived pollutants cool the planet , where as the long lived ones warm the planet.
Accordingly global warming will speed up by reducing the pollution short term.

Fudgers always have an answer to keep the research going!!
methane is short lived,
we need more cows to cool the planet
