Farming without bagged Fertiliser

The key ingredient to the grass above was h20.
Obviously water is important but I figure it's worth noting a reduction in N with good grass growth when we've had our normal amount of rain.
It's bloody hard for farmers who are dry but that doesn't take away from the results I've seen.

It hasn't been very warm up here so growth hasn't been exceptional at all.

How do you spot a Cornish farmer at a meeting?
He’ll be the one in the rolled down wellies, giving the host and salesman a grilling!
Fair play to you @Beef farmer and @Walwyn for an informative meeting. (y)
Same wellies, different colour grass

I’m curious to know if anyone is using Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) in their mix to help with nitrogen take up?
We’ve started recently but with this dry spell growth rates are slow. So hard to tell if it’s doing anything.

Yes, plus mag chloride to keep liquid longer on the leaf. It’s a see as you go approach, plus going late in the evening/ morning. Junior finished the first lot on 3rd cut , 2.30 am today!

Yea we’re going late in the evening, and early morning, but not 2:30 early (or late). 😰

we’re going with 10 units of N and 2.5 kg hectare not sure if it’s too little or too much. And this dry spell throws another variable in the mix.

Nothing going on here until we've had a damp good soak.

And by then probably be getting close to NVZ closed period...

So just slurry and FYM till next Spring I reckon...

What would be a typical mix for silage ground thinking , the t+f isn’t the quickest way of putting out fert on grazing fields but it must be very time consuming putting on higher rates.
