farms/business

Lots of cows for sale at the moment. Look at the sale catalogue ring and ask what’s happening to the farm.

Be prepared for some unpleasant conversations. However nothing ventured nothing gained.
To the OP ,I'd say that at this late stage, the above would be your best option. Contact the main dairy auctioneers and ask for any possible situations where the people who have recently sold up might be able to lease you their facilities, even just on a short term basis. On the subject of CC farms,( based on quite long experience of them,) the main reason why good candidates don't get a holding, is because they give up applying for them. Like it or not, there are hoops to be jumped through before you get one.

well, I did do what was needed. Had to call through the entire council of Hampshire to get put through to the right department, for me to wait 10 mins to be told there's too many calls and ring back later... yeah they close in a few hrs and I have stuff to do smh. I emailed all the people I had contact with, on their private emails. I have done all I can for that place atm and we shall see. 12 days ago they received my application, it was processed the next day and they said they would reply shortly about it and almost 2 weeks later not a single answer and no replies to an email I sent them. If people are going to let you down at least tell you to your face instead of ignoring ffs

Dunno, all I meant is that the council know who they want to get the farm and the open day was just a formality if the truth is known
A bit of topic but around here one holding was sold to someone who appears quite often on the telly (without being publicly offered), the leader of the council/Senedd member still has his, as does a man in a suit in the highway's department and lastly the contractor who organises the verge trimming for the council has a holding as well.

Be patient, I think the closing date for full applications is today. They'll let you know next week if they want to interview you.

You have got to be very careful about what is gossiped about, I'm sure unfortunately there are like any business some back handers going on but also most gossip is jealousy.
We tendered and got a CC many years ago, we were young, keen and had put days & days into our cash flows, plus got milk contacts and agreement in extra land to go with it. One of the CC was distantly known to my family, we may of spoke five/six years prior to our application. When we got the farm their was a lot of rummer around the fact we knew a cc member etc.
Nine months later when CC farm minutes were released to the public it stated that he had declared a personal interest and had withdrew from the letting procedure. We got it on our own merit but it created lots of local talk!

True, but when you see AD maize covering a recently rented CC farm, for several years, it's not always gossip. Such is life I guess.
