Fastrac engine conversion

Has anyone fitted a cummins 6bt in to a fastrac 155 how hard of a job is it?

I would have thought it would fit, I think it is a SAE 2 bell housing on the Fastrac.

Often thought of taking a 6bt out my 3170 Fastrac and fitting something like a 8V-71 Detroit, but then realised they don't rev as high as the Cummins so would be a slower top speed...

Plenty of sound with the Detroit, nice engine.

Bell housing / clutch would be the same ( have swapped 185/65 gearbox for 155/65 one ). Engine mounts are slightly different but the air compressor and aux. hydraulic pump would need to be totally re-worked as would various other pipes and wiring looms etc.
Would be feasible I would think but I'd want to be sure the donor tractor was sound before going to too much trouble or expense.
Cummings engined fastracs had heavier duty rear axles due to the extra power/torque over the Perkins ones , something to also bear in mind.

To gain 30 hp is it not an option to tune your Perkins a bit and if it blows sure you can revert back to the conversion idea

Detroit's just sound as if they are reving higher as they fire every stroke

Simpler to fit a higher hp Perkins 1000.6
Generators run 200hp+ at 1500rpm
