Fastrack 4220

Get a 8330.

There is a bit of a hp gap between 4000 and 8000 series though.

Was rumours of a 6000 series, weather it ever materialises who knows. 250hp in a 4000 series chassis would be a fair beast. Think the engine in 4220 is at its limit already though.
They use the Agco 6.6 on 4220, it shouldn't be that hard to put the Agco 7.4 in there and pump it up to 250hp+. (n)

One thing that a lot of people fail to pick up on, is how much more productive the four wheel steer makes the tractor. The 42 will take bigger trailers through tight gateways better than conventional tractors with a shorter trailer. The rear wheels take a wider line and the trailer follows. Turning the trailer round in a yard and backing into position is a good bit easier but if there is any real distance to reverse(like gravel road repairs) the 42 will be far more productive. It also helps when the cab is further forwards and you can see down the side of the trailer better rather looking straight at the headboard like a normal tractor.

I had one on demo, the old man loved it and so did I to a point. My biggest gripe was the cvt, it would not stop and hold its self on a slope? And having used cvt transmissions for a number of years now in our 2 main tractors which do hold themselves on a good gradient with christ knows how much wait behind them, I really went off the JCB. I think you could have the option of the hand brake automatically coming on but why does the transmission not hold its own? BIG step backwards for me.

Something wrong with that one then. They should hold on a hill.. Must have needed calibration?? Can anybody explain how this function works? does the hydrostat keep running and cancel out the incoming mechanical drive exactly..?

Yeah active standstill
Basically the hydrostat turns the necessary bits to keep the output shaft stationary

In Drive mode there is a setting with 1-3 bars that will help with this, did you have all 3 showing?

I didn't know about that to be honest but does that setting only helps rather than holds it to stop? I presume the Fendt tractors stop and hold on a gradient?

If you have it set lowest it will creep along unless you hold it on the brakes, if you have it at highest it will hold it and you have to rev it to move it. No idea what gradient it will hold on though.

Just thought I would update. Spoke to local AD guys who run 4 4220 s which are literally a year old next week. All have clocked 1950 hrs plus.
All 4 have had a gasket on side of engine fail, 3 have had rear diffs fail and 3 have had hubs fail . They love the comfort and speed/ safety but find them underpowered loaded.
Description was, they are ok, sort of !!
Be intresting how they cope with a second busy year.
