Id a demo 4220 a few years ago and had it on plough, i thought it was great.Just curious on thoughts on these for ploughing.? And does anybody plough with a press.? Wondering what visibility would be like using a press...
thanks.
Have you asked paul?
Ah ,is your press on the plough?Nah I’ve not. But he uses a front swing over press.

It’s a big disc press that drags along. Attach it and detach it at end of every run. View attachment 760440
There's a delay setting. 4ws doesn't kick in until front wheel passes a certain angle. Got it on my 2170 too. Handy for spraying also .Is the tractor in 4ws when ploughing ? could be interesting . certainly need it when turning .

Its only available on 2000 series and new 4000s. At least you've got a nice big comfy cab.Wish I'd got that , like turning an aircraft carrier round .
We had a demo 4220 and did some ploughing, driver thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Just taken delivery of a used 4220 and I am very pleased so far. Visibility not brilliant when hitching up, but when you are using it the comfort is impressive.
Do mean speed starHave you asked paul?
No I mean @saly123 far neighbourDo mean speed star
Just been watching George Saunders on you tube, fastrac versus fendt on 6 furrows. Don't know how much harder it is to get grip 'on land' for the fendt but I'm very very impressed with the fastracs performance. Ploughing side by side in the same field so can't get a better test than thatJust curious on thoughts on these for ploughing.? And does anybody plough with a press.? Now we've not tried ours on the plough, mainly as I have a good contractor for that.. but would think that is the one job it will struggle more with. I'm sure it will be fine in good conditions but 220hp fastrac has to compete with a 724 and it just won't with little back wheels when the going gets steep and wet.. The 4220 has to be able to deal with 5 furrows in these conditions and 6 furrows in good going. Even with plenty of ballast, when the tractor is trying to dig in on a steep climb, the rear wheels are doing nearly all the work with the weight of 5 furrows loaded with ground. The best way to achieve grip is a long contact area from tyre to ground and that is what the fastrac does not have.. The salesmen keep suggesting dropping tyre pressures, but that is only possible if the endrigs are fairly level.. start dropping pressures with a long beam 5 furrow hanging swung out the side and on any real sidehill you will have the tyre folded in half and the rim running on the ground.. not nice. i'm convinced that taller wheels will always offer more grip but if other people have found otherwise then i'm happy to be proven wrong as the 4220 is a great machine!
