Fat lambs

Right thinking about feeding my last few lambs to get them fat was wondering about sugar beet cause if I had any left would feed it to the sheep Pre lambing

Sugar beet nuts or beets?

What else are they having? Beet alone would be too low in protein for them to finish particularly well. You could get a 15% protein finishing nut for not much more than the cost of beet pulp nuts, which has pretty well priced itself out of the market these days I'd have thought.

Yeah nuts I wasn’t sure on the protein side will probably just get a finishing ration for them

Dont make them fat! They dont want fat. Make them prime lambs.

My aim is to add a few extra kilos not to make them fat

Just like i did with half of mine,several hundred, over the last few years.Last year managed to see the same lambs i sold in the store for £70,return 3 months later and make £140.

Did you remember the pleasure you’d had the previous year though, when you saw the £70 store lambs coming out 3 months later for £80?

I usually sell half as stores,and keep half for fat.I think that year i averaged £110 through May.
