would cattle finish on forge rape- cereals + sileage or do they need to go into the shed on a sileage cereal diet to finish

Heavy clay in December after a wet early winter would put an end to any dream of doing this.

I only thinking for the next month, I have waist high rape, I have cattle plenty of frame I just want some flesh and fat to finish and I do not want to start winter routine but if the shed is the best place shed it is

I would give it a go. Cattle prices don't look as if they are going to rise for a while!

Tried it with some angus a few years ago, filled them but they didn't do much, had to bring them in in the end to finish them.

Only problem id say is you'll have is keep intakes high would need straw or something aswell to slow it down! is it sheltered? Cause you'll only be feeding a maintenance if the weather turns a bit, when finishing you want to be pushing over maintenance to achieve a finish!
