Februdairy

I'm not sure who started this but I think it's a great idea in response to veganuary.

My wife and I will be doing a Facebook post each day through Feb to promote what we do and would suggest that any one else who is on any form of social media does the same.

Keep it as light hearted as possible, don't go looking for a fight with militant vegans and spread the word that we do what we do for the love of cows and dispell some of the myths and lies spread about dairy farming as you go.

yup done a couple today and will be doing so throughout Feb!

Yes, I just discovered it was Dr Jude Capper but I'm not on Twitter so I missed the origins of it.

There will inevitably be noisy vegans shouting lies but it's best just to try and avoid getting drawn in to their fight if you can

Give Twitter a go as its perfect if you are time poor (well it was better) as you are limited to the number of characters per post.

I still read and learn more than I post.

The last 3 months its been taken over by militant vegans and has lost its appeal. It was good

Any post with the #febudairy tag has militant vegans over them like flies around shite. Unfortunately i think 'earthling ed' is going to convert/brainwash a couple hundred thousand to go vegan if even its just for a few months before the BBQs fire up.

It’s #Februdairy by the way folks- with an ‘r’.

I’m getting involved. All good fun. Fudge the vegan haters. Most people can’t stand them anyway.

On holiday skiing this week so I’ve managed to find plenty of small Alpine dairies to have a look at. Fascinating way of life. There’s small farms right in the middle of towns selling milk from vending machines.

I haven't actually had any vegan attacks to my tweets so far although I got a few in Jan when I waded into a discussion about land use as they are all convinced we can grow vegetables and other human food plants on every square inch of land. As we have some biologically important flood and hay meadows I can come at it from a different angle than pure perennial ryegrass and they're not sure how to argue with that one! Interestingly the whole 'rape rack' thing seems to have gone away once #teamdairy all said the only people they'd ever heard use it were vegans, topped off by the general ridiculing of one who was convinced that a photo of a rotary parlour was a 'rape rack'. Just don't lower yourself to their level of swearing and abuse. Most of us are ignoring them rather than getting into arguments which will never change their minds, and just putting up great info about our industry. Just read tweets carefully before retweeting or liking stuff - they have created some crafty spoofs of the tellitlikeitis resources.

PS as most of us don't know what a ' rape rack' is, as it's a term that is never used in the industry, it is supposedly the 'industry term' for an AI pen/crush.

What really gets me about this is the vegans try and humanise animals by using human terms but they can’t prove that the cows don’t enjoy a bit of anal fisting. Takes all sorts to make the world go round why should bovines be any different
