I want to do my own FEC this year but have not done anything like it before. I've gone through old threads on this website but the equipment required is no longer listed.

Can someone list all the equipment required and perhaps provide recommendations

Bought the professional kit in this link..easy to use and has everything you need..cant complain

The kit is a bit expensive for a cheap microscope.

Have a look on ebay. You need ideally binocular eyepieces, 100X magnification (10x eye, 10X objective), a mechanical stage and a light source.

Some very good 2nd hand ones for little money come up all the time
