We have grown Leeds for quite a few years and its listed as being 'medium to high tillering and competitive against grass weeds'
The agronomist moans about the disease rating of Leeds and is recommending we change to Gleam but it is listed as being 'slow spring growth' which concerns me with DD crops also being a bit slow to get going at spring aswell.

What other varieties are you finding suits DD

we grew gleam this time and some costello as we couldnt get enough gleam, the yield was much the same for both with the gleam just having the edge, very happy with it, we do however now put on a bit of fert mid/late feb (75kg/ha of urea 24h Feb this year) to get the crops going in spring, it definately pays doing that

we have grown skyfall with the idea of it being a feed wheat if it passes milling happy days but gets no special treatment over any other variety. skyfall loves the claydon it tillers like mad in the wider rows, this harvest gone is going to be its last with us for now but may return to it next year. going with zyatt again and got some extase coming to replace skyfall for now.

certainly wouldnt hesitate going back to skyfall
