Feeding ewe rolls to lambs?

I have got 1/2t or thereabout of ewe rolls left over.

They are in a steel container and in good sealed bags, but experience is that they don't keep that well until next year!

Herself suggested that I feed them to the lambs, along with the creep pellets. Has anyone managed to do this successfully?

If I was still milling and mixxing, they would have gone through a hammer

As above lost two or three hogs with blocked urethras ( not my proudest moment) after feeding ewe pellets. From memory after doing the research, it's the high levels of phosphate in ewe feed which calcifies and causes the problem in male sheep.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned about the lambs eating a few rolls, as long as they aren’t entire males on high intakes. They’d be pinching a bit if you were feeding them to their mothers anyway.

I suspect you’ll find they bridge in creep feeders though, blocking them, and the creep pellets, from running.

I’ve always been happy enough to leave any surplus in the bin, until next year if needs be.

They are entires... But not big quantities being consumed, However with the warning about problems, I will keep them in the container I think, and have enough creep on order to take me through until the end of the month. (y)

Entire lambs are less susceptible than wedder lambs, however still not ideal. Ewe lambs aren’t a massive problem, as long as they don’t choke and die
