Hi I have a flock of 48 ewes grazing on grass, they are due to lamb in February, do I need to supplement them with ewe nuts or feed them some hay, haylage or silage?
Purely depends on how much grass they’ve got in front of them.
Send me a PM to your exact area if you want as I might be able to tell you what we have locally and who would be best to buy from etc..
My early January lambers are still on their paddock grazing allocation, singles have gone onto bare grass and twins/triplets are still on their rotation, probably get an energy block just incase next week sometime. No need to feed when grass is a far better feed than anything else.
I feed 1/2kilo of nuts/head a day for 3 weeks before and after lambing for twins and 3/4kilo a day for triplets nothing for singles and tend too get food sized lambs and plenty of milk from the ewes so must be somewhere near
