Feeding whole oats

Is anyone feeding whole oats and a protein pellet through a 3 in 1 feeder to in lamb ewes?
if so how are you getting on?
I’ve mixed it with whole barley in the past.

we sometimes mix a 33 percent blend pellet either with oats or atm with whole barley.
its one with 4 to 5 mm diameter. its length gets shortened / broken as well like when mixing etc as well so its not a big one.

I’m on 40% oats 40% barley 20% protein pellets feeding lactating ewes.
Works well. Use Dougdale protein pellets developed especially for 3 in 1s. Quite expensive but work!
Bit of trail and error getting settings right.

Kitted out main shed out a couple years ago with dedicated feeders.

First year I was feeding a mix of oats and very high quality cake, it worked, but I couldn't get intakes below a kg/ewe with out the feeders blocking.

So last year and this year I'm just putting oats in the feeders and cake on the floor but only once a day,
Having the oats there means that if a cake feed gets missed it's not the end of the world.
I keep meaning to try oats and P pellet mix, it's just concerns over shy/non feeders getting missed that have kept me putting cake down
