Our cows get up to 8kgs in parlour until abuot 60 days post calving then I start pulling them back a bit. So I guess i'm feeding to yield. So I guess i'd best get my meters tested too as what the PC tells me aint what the tanker is telling me
Meters in KG's, Tanker in Litres?
1litre = 1.026kgsYes and Yes. Good point.
Whats the conversion? For my simple mind I just go kg = litre

Are you not cutting back too soon? I would not cut back until well into servingOur cows get up to 8kgs in parlour until abuot 60 days post calving then I start pulling them back a bit. I keep building till serving, then hold at a constant till the bulls come out.Are you not cutting back too soon? I would not cut back until well into serving
Trouble is feed to yeild is the start of a very slippery slope
More to feeding cows than just yieldWhy?? I love to feed to yield and take in other factors too. Not using a graph but treating each cow as a individual. I know it's not as easy when you have big numbers.
I'm sure that works very well on your system but in general I would never want to have to treat any cow as an individual, cows are a herdWhy?? I love to feed to yield and take in other factors too. Are the highest production cows the most profitable cows in the world??
I'm for a bit more of a rounded approach to be able to cope with the £300 a ton feed or 18ppl milk price when they arrive.
