Fencing going missing!

Our most vulnerable one (and it's battery) is in a locked metal box which sits on an insulated post and is wired into the fence line - had it about 5 years now and so far, so good.

The fudger will probably be gone in the morning now I've said that

Go a neighbour with a serious theft problem of fencers etc, I'll mention this one to him

Not necessarily farmers, or at least farmers from this country buying it.

Was speaking to some one from Norfolk the other day saying major problem with electric fencing thefts around them now. They had similar a few years back and a load was found in a shipping container at the docks

My cunning plan... as I use a solar panels to keep the fencer up to scratch, is to drop a telegraph pole into the ground and then have the service box and panel, about 15ft in the air. Access will by telescopic, but as the system is not needing fresh batteries, access is rarely required.Maybe wrap some barbed wire about 6-7ft up the pole??

You can quite easily wire up an old ammo box to the fencer inside. It is surprisingly effective. You can be brave or put a switch on the side.

I wonder if this would be an easy option for remote access to such a box?

True, true! It'll be also used for a remote power source for LED light (and possibly a small pump) at an overwintering cattle yard is plans come to fruition.

They would cut the pole down out of spite. An old safe with tractor link arm lugs welded on works well for a friend.

We’ve had two batteries & energisers stolen from a paddock around 100yds from the house but a long way from the road . Thought I might leave a knackered one there with a cheap tracker inside .

The key is bolted to an insulator - I'll get a pic of it in the morning if you like.

500 - that's a triple decker load..............and in the dark.....and a lot of noise....and nobody saw/heard anything

I’ve moved a lot of sheep on/off lorries in the dark. Only had police out once. Most people wouldn’t know that anything was amiss, or care enough to notice.

It has a 'T' angle iron stake knocked into the ground and the box is attached to it through some nylon insulators.
