It's still going now, why wouldn't it last?? Same could be said about these 4 pot tractors that are 160/170hp

I tend to be in the camp of, buy the right machine to start with. As for reliability it might last it might not, as you say operator is a big factor.
I tend to base my opinions on advice from mechanics that end up rebuilding them, generally the say stay away.
How many hours does it have now? Engine/transmission work?

Good to see some evidence rather than just hearsay(y)

There’s a lot of smoke and mirrors in the sales of the 700 series, dealers will tell you all sorts to get you to buy the bigger model, there has probably never been a range as similar between models.

Regards evidence, I want to see it with my own eyes to prove fact is fact.

I reckon that they could drop the 716 and 718 start the 700's with the 720 and introduce a 518.

Are they very low? I don’t understand them I must be honest. Torque and hp look good..
Well from the figures on the screen, and without seeing any curve or speaking to the tuner, it looks dead flat from max torque to max power.

Then again if he's tried to keep it under the torque limiter, then I'd probably expect that.

How does it feel in use?

Food for thought, the current series....the 724 has a HD transmission compared to the 720....hence the substantial price difference. Just something to consider.

How do operators cause them to fail? Can you explain to me what they are doing wrong because I have not driven the newer shape Fendts but was led to believe that you basically can't hurt them unless you go out of your way to do it?
Using range 2 when full power is needed to start off seems to cause problems after a while from what I've heard

Having never driven one, can you pull away in low then ease off and change range or must you be stationary ?
Was always stationary in the older ones....not sure on the new ones. Range 1 is for heavier work when you don't need the forward speed. I'd use it for ploughing....seeding etc. I even use it for the double mowers. Over reving the transmission also doesn't do them any favours...e.g down hill
