The new ones are too dear there just beyond us in most cases. thats the trouble
they can keep upping them 3% annually or whatever it is they increasing them at, the bubble will burst
2024 is my prediction.... watch this space
Just had a quote for a 7718S and the want my 62 plate 6480 (4700 hours) plus £60k to change.
A 7719s 19 plate with 300 hours on clock and 2 years warranty left sold at a local farm sale for £66.5k!

Had a 7600 Massey on a5 year warranty. Very good tractor but had several issues. Not expensive in parts but labour would be an issue. Sold with 6 months warranty diminishing. 5 years 2yrs ago. And got a JD two years old and touch wood no real issues My local agco dealer is Great but couldn’t afford to replace the Massey for a new one with warranty
I sold my 5.5yr old 6480 massey with fully dealer history etc etc & not a thing too fault on it whatsoever, think it was about 3500 odd hours
£15k less than it was bought for new.
of course when they could be sourced for well under £50k even fully specced back in 2008 job was so much easier
similar tractor now is £90k your struggling with the maths to make any of it add up.

If you are man of your word , you will stand by any thing you are selling, We all ways do & have sold a good few things to forum members over the years , things are may be different were you live, but that is how we work & every thing has a full service history with it.
You probably told him it could do 29 mpg as well, after all you are a man of your word.

Golden rule is dont trade a tractor to the dealer end of... they will only offer what the TRADE wants to pay for it & basically insult you.
that massey might be worth another 2 or 3k max but like ive said the new ones are too dear

I don't get why trade price is an insult? You don't want it anymore (perhaps because its knackered) why should a dealer have to pay to whack for it, they might not want it either. They're in the selling new machinery business.

There is quite a diff in the UK between what something is worth ie a private sale or advert from the seller or owner of the machine, compared to what most not all but most dealers seem to be offering
us farmers & the dearer the new stuff gets the bigger this gap actually appears to end up
In as much as if the new stuff rises say that magic 3% yearly thats spoken off, id say its more than that but anyhow, it thin seems to come off the trade-in value at the other end.
Dealers dont want your trade in thats a known fact over here.
Straight deals is the only way you stand too get the best figures to work with.
Been there n got all these T-shirts.

New tractor prices won’t come down
Whatever happens in this country doesn’t make a jot of difference to them
I want you to be wrong but I fear your right!

It would be interesting to know what % of new tractors are sold to contractors. They can obviously pass the cost on to their customers. They aren't going to lose work as the farmers can't warrant the machine either!

Sometimes it's not because your current tractor has done the hours that you want to change it either, it maybe because it's not an adequate spec for your purpose anymore, such is the speed of development these days.
