Fendt 820 auto steer

Hi all,

we have a fendt 820 with factory fitted auto steer and a Leica mojortk system to control it. Since we have had the tractor we haven’t been able to get it to work.

I think that the Leica part is working but there is something wrong with the fendt steering as it says ‘CAN communication error’

i have spoken to multiple fendt dealers but they don’t seem to know anything or aren’t very interested to help.

Has anyone got experience with this system?

I don’t think many 820s came with factory steering. If we could get it to work we would like to upgrade the Leica system to a newer set up as you can only do simple straight line guidance with it.

Can you do the calibration through the dash? It’s a code you enter . One for wheel angle sensor 3401? Or similar and 3408 for steer valve. If it will go through both of those , then it’s not the tractor (codes may be wrong as it’s been a few years since I did a fendt)

No, I have tried that. It gets to the first part and then doesn’t go any further and eventually comes up with error. But we get no error codes

Have you spoke to anyone from leica, used to run 2 systems on 820’s never really had any bother. The main guy at Leica Used to be on here but with different colour overalls, could try there customer support https://leica-geosystems.com/en-gb/contact-us/sales_support/support

how do you know if it’s auto steer ready

Yes and they think it could be something wrong with tractor wiring/ecu etc

I spoke to the dealer who supplied it new and they said it was. They were helpful but too far away to come and look at it

You will need to get the steering valve to calibrate first. If it's coming up an error.

Have tried calibrating both the steering angle sensors and Valve but no luck, I can get them to start calibration but can’t get any further.
the 3 position switch on right hand pillar lights up both green and orange but I think it should work only be green if it’s working correct

I have a fendt 820 with the factory fitted auto steer, I when I bought it, it had all the same faults as you have. I replaced the pre control valve under the cab this spring and all works perfectly now.
