Fendt depreciation per hour

Yes but a £10k Fendt to me isn’t worth anything. I wouldn’t even entertain the idea at £10k let alone £20k.
.

market suggests plenty people will do though and currently value them at 30k plus - 10 years from now that will be more as 30k will probably be worth a lot less due to inflation

I seriously considered a 4000 fastrac but as I see it right now depreciation is higher and there are a few question marks over reliability - i hear some good and bad reports. also wish they would put proper sized wheels on them !

JCB with Fendt gearbox is a similar worry as they age

You’ve got a gearbox full repair waiting to happen and Fendt have that tied up as nobody else can do it. A gearbox goes in a CNH vario and it’s £5k max and done by a multitude of people. Hence why I’ve said I don’t see the value in Fendt new prices or used, although I will concede it’s the best tractor on the market. Saying that JCB could take many Fendt buyers if they prove reliable and it’s at least £20k cheaper to buy new at the minute.
I think the clever people in fendt class and others will keep a bottom in their products to help keep a high purchase price class have done this with their combines very well

Cost to to change is just a psychological barrier - keeping it low will make you feel better I guess

Cost of ownership (depreciation, finance and running cost) is what will make the difference to how profitable your are
No Clive it is a financial barrier. If I change my tractor at say 3 years old and it costs me £30k to change that is less than if I change the same tractor at 6 years old and it costs £50k to change, £30k is less then £50k in fact it is £20k less. Unless I spend the second 3 years saving that money to pay the extra £20k in which case I may as well have changed at 3 years old.

if you cant afford to change your tractor at 3 years old then don't maybe ? - frankly im not sure who can do these days and modern tractors are hardly run in at that age

you don't have to save when you can finance - surely ist's cost of ownership you should be most concerned about as that is what will impact on how much profit you make ?

You have all so tyres on that tractor which are not rated at 240hp xeobibs are only rated to 200hp max, check the spec sheet on a 724 there lots of things not standard on a profi + tractor now that were a year ago even some are only 40kph

missed this - we spec Axiobibs which are rated way beyond 250hp

I think some need to actually get quotes for similar specification tractors from a few different manufacturers.
Some years ago I got quotes for Jcb, mf, John deere, fendt and valtra. The difference was nowhere near what I was lead to believe.

We did. Case cvx £27k less same spec same hp. Jcb £25k less same spec except it’s 20hp less than the Fendt model. NH £30k less. Didn’t bother with JD.

Fendt vario is an expensive item. If it goes wrong you have to bite the bullet and get it replaced. But you end up with a fully guaranteed factory replacement. Might be £10k fitted for the smaller version (not sure as it was some years ago I asked).
But you hear similar horror stories for modern power shift gearboxes. They are not cheap to repair and consume a lot of time being done.

New holland and case do seem to be the cheaper option.
Jcb I was told recently was actually more expensive than a fendt but that's just unconfirmed chat!

Recon gearbox is £6500 plus fitting for an old style 718. My friends Puma 165 knackered the gearbox at 3000 hours. Quote for it was £13000.

I don’t think this is correct information as I’ve heard a lot cheaper from an independent repairer.

This talk of depreciation at £10/hr is crazy. We are basically letting the manufacturer squeeze our profit margin.

I bought an 09 t6070 (yes I know it’s not mega hp) 4 years ago with 5000hrs on it, it’s just had its 10,000 hr service and since buying its had a new exhaust from turbo back and a new set of front tyres. Looking at similar prices for what it’s worth online it’s probably lost £1/hr depreciation including repairs. It does exactly the same job as a similar sized fendt except it’s blue. In fact I could buy 5 of these tractors for the price of the fendt!

All tractors break down and need fixing at some point , we have MF 7620 with the gearbox out at the moment being repaired , will be a lot cheaper than buying a new tractor , you pay your money and take your choice and what happens happens unless you all ways run tractors in warranty and there will not be many people that can afford to do that
