fendt engine problems up to £25000 repair bill

I bought a second hand 4 year old 900 series fendt almost a year ago! Been all ok until a couple of months ago when i realised i had a problem with a cam follower! Repair bill looking at been around £25000! On a less than 5 year old tractor! Over hours for any warranty so fendt not interested after having had 3 weeks to think about it! Anyone else had similar problems? No more fendts for me! Running over 10 tractors that are another brand! Never in 30 years had any repair bills a quarter the cost of this!

Could you give us a little more info on what was done, I find it hard it to believe anyone could spend £25k on an engine repairs even on a 900 Fendt

How many hrs?

How much do you want for it,as is? :)

Around the £25000 to put exchange engine in! only 6900 hours iv done less than 900 hours with tractor. looking at costing me around £47 per clock hour in repairs and depreciation so far!

It would be interesting to have a bit more in depth information.
However I am not surprised.

Was talking to a fendt dealer just over a week ago and he was telling me of a customer who completely neglected any maintenance on a tractor and ended up paying 30k to have a new engine fitted. These modern engines just ain't cheap, not so many years ago you could get a re build kit for a 248 Perkins for about £250, obviously not quite a direct comparison to a big fendt but I dare say modern maasys ain't much cheaper. Keeping modern tractors going as they get older ain't as cheap or simple as it used to be.

What's needed is an assessment by a skilled independent engineer. It could be that the engine could be repaired for a small fraction of the quoted cost. Trouble is, its probably in bits at the Fendt dealer? If its not at the official Fendt dealer, I doubt whether Fendt would consider any claim, which would explain their response as being an exchange engine at that price.

Try a truck specialist who is experienced in truck engines, especially MAN engines. We have one near here that does all our milk tankers and many other trucks.
