One of my guys is getting a bit despondent about the repeated, and I mean repeated as in the same thing many times, breakdowns in his tractor low hours, still warranted  biggest issue for me is the downtime, biggest issue for him us that any small change in noise etc etc is a surge of worry.

If the driver is conscientious and caring, there is no doubt that such a thing can be taken rather personally in as much they suspect that the boss could be blaming them when the boss actually doesn't think any such thing.
In my younger days I worked with a tractor driver who had a Case 970 Agri-King which broke down every 100 hours on average. He got into a hell of a state about it and would never entertain driving another Case from then on.

I bought a second hand 4 year old 900 series fendt almost a year ago! Been all ok until a couple of months ago when i realised i had a problem with a cam follower! Repair bill looking at been around £25000! On a less than 5 year old tractor! Over hours for any warranty so fendt not interested after having had 3 weeks to think about it! Anyone else had similar problems? No more fendts for me! Running over 10 tractors that are another brand! Never in 30 years had any repair bills a quarter the cost of this!
You must have been lucky, with all them big HP trucks you run chipped to the moon & never had a problem , Fendt may be had the same company power tuning it !!!!

Best tractor I ever drove.
Powershift gearbox, aircon ,cab as quiet and comfortable as most stuff nowadays. (This was the late 70's) when alot of tractors still came WITHOUT cabs.
Cracking six cylinder throaty engine.

Neighbour's tractor, lent it th'owd fella with a ten ton trailer to dig our acre of spuds.
Big leap from a 135 and 3 tonne Tyrer tipper.
Drove it two miles down road and con rod came through side of block..........

Never did find the piece, (size of a rugby ball).
Think a new short motor was four grand back then.

One thing thats missed from the old maligned UK manufacturers of the past.
the affordable replacement engine, think BMC gold seal, Ford with their exchange 000 series tractor engines

Flipping heck £25,000 repair for a 5 year old premium brand tractor! No wonder more people are turning to hiring or buying the older style tractors which are more easily repaired.
