Fendt Trimble auto steer setup

Just started drilling some rape in the new Fendt 724, and don't know what to put in a couple of setting for the implement setup. Manuals useless, dealers useless, I think I've worked it out, but I wonder if someone who knows can tell me.

Basically, I need to know what number to put in the box with the green steering wheel, and the box to the right of it with the tractor.

Thanks, Will

That is the theoretical point at which the machine steers. So if it is mounted use 0 or maybe the point the counters hit the ground. On my vaderstad I use the distance to just in front of the wheels. It is measured from the pick up hitch.

Should also add the box on the right is where the coulters hit the ground. It will then mark on the map. The one above is the offset, if you have a vaderstad it will not pull straight. To move to the right increase the distance, to the left reduce it. The other buttons on the right tell the system when to start coverage. If you turn on the steering button coverage on the map will start when auto steer is engaged.

The green symbol indicates the navigation point (for wayline guidance) as set on the implement - the setting is the distance from the rear link hooks to the point on the implement that you wish to follow the wayline, the "navigation point".

The black symbol with tractor in front of it, which is the distance from the rear link hooks (or pickup hitch pivot point if towed rather than mounted) to the point at which you wish VarioGuide to start/finish the "painted" or worked part of field, so for example the distance from the rear hooks to the coulters.

See page 35 of manual online for explanation of symbols and pages 67 to 81 for setting up your implement (pay particular attention to page 70) and what all the distances and symbols mean.

Thanks @Pheasant Surprise. I'll have to save that manual, its different from mine.

Ok, think I have it, left box, measure from end of link arms (not antenna?) to point on machine I want to follow the wayline, and in the right hand box, the end of the link arms to the point of the machine i want it to start 'painting' from. I would of thought most of the time these two points will be the same...

Yeh the way VarioGuide is setup the antenna centre will always be in the same position within the sunroof and the system knows it's position, (these measurements are set automatically), so it knows where it is relative to f/r axles, linkages, heights etc.

On the implement a good example of where the navigation point would be different to the worked area point would be a trailed sprayer - navigation point would be the centre line of the axles and the worked area would be from the booms.

As you say probably not much in it otherwise for a quite 'short' mounted implement. The difference only matters where it's a longer implement

@Bovril - the user manual doesn't really cover the process for adjusting the implement offset, particularly if the implement pulls more to one side than the other.

Here is a step by step guide (2 methods) for adjusting your implement offset.
