Just had the antenna fitted on my 720 for a demo just on the egnos. How easy is it to use and is there anything I need to know about sheeting it up cheers daz

Should be almost straightforward from the VarioTerminal menus but why not browse through the manual first. If the manual sounds confusing, the forum should be able to help.

On EGNOS you will have to learn to use the offset adjustment buttons.

I'm referring to the poor accuracy from EGNOS, both in terms of path-to-patch accuracy as well as in terms of absolute accuracy. When changing from one path to the next one, you may often need to set an offset at the headland to reach the correct line. This of course is needed after a pause but easily also after turns at headlands.

Of course it all depends on the expected accuracy. Preparing a field and using one metre overlap should be fine with EGNOS. But some use EGNOS for drilling too where continuous adjustments (at least) after each turn are pretty much a must.

I once tried ploughing with EGNOS only. It worked surprisingly well when adjusting the offset for every path. No need for offset adjustments when using RTK.

Make sure it has the latest software, there has been an update in the last month or so which has changed the varioguide a lot, there is a new setup screen for the implements. I do get a lot of drift with egnos, somedays more than others, but it is generally very good. I dont tend to use the off-set for spraying or fert. Set up one of the programable buttons on the joystick to turn the steering on it saves trying to look for the button. Usually i use go2 then the go1 and end1 can be used for anything else. Also if you are using the speed steer it has to be turned "on" on the terminal before you press the main "on" button on the armrest.

This must be an update to the Vario Terminal? Would you be able to take a screenshot and post it?

I find the software update an issue for the VarioGuide receiver, why not for the terminal too. An independent screen and receiver usually can be updated from a USB stick and the updates are available for download from internet. VarioGuide needs to be updated at Fendt service (as far as I know) even if there is a USB slot at the screen.

It would be handy if operator's could do their own updates. They had trouble with this one and had to take the gps receiver back to have another try. To fendts credit my old tractor still had updates after the new 700s were launched.

I get on well with it, I just played with all the settings on less important jobs like rolling get a feel for all the different settings. I did all the drilling with our auto steer, but had to nudge it every couple of lines but it's alright when you got a marker to follow

That looks very similar to the last update I got in mine back in January. Not sure what happened whilst doing it but we got a new receiver out of it. Update is a big improvement. Currently waiting for section control for the sprayer to be put on in next couple of days.

I thought our Fendt had a more fresh SW but it appeared to be from September 2013 and it does not have this implement menu.

How do you actually get those new (optional, paid) features like section control and headland management (Variotronic TI triggered from GPS)? Our dealer and service guy do not seem to be aware at all?

They put the original update on my tractor and everything except the gps was working. after afew attempts the receiver went back to the dealer to have a patch put in the software. After this it has worked fine. I havnt got sprayer section control but I am using a KRM spinner and may put the section control for this on it.

Only thing I'm having to pay for is section control. Just keep asking for latest updates every 6 months or so. It will have the most recent version once section control goes on. My advise is keep asking.

The headland management is on the tractor, do you mean you want the headand management to turn the stearing on? This is possible if your tractor is a Profi Plus

. Section control is a cost and you need to speak to the tractor dealer and the sprayer supplier. In my case the spinner and the tractor came from the same supplier. Its the first isobus Spinner they have sold, thats why I did not have the section control at first as I didnt want to be the one who has to learn what the problems are. I now know that the system works well and is only a matter of plugging in the laptop to put it on.

We were the same. We could still steer on autonomous but not with our VBS correction signal. At the time I was running a topcon x20 on the sprayer for section control which needed a nmea input but the autonomous signal would not provide the right information.

I also have a Bogballe spreader and the section control will also work with it once on there. Looking forward to getting it.

Just need to convert my airseeder to isobus and can use section control with everything.

Your tractor must be different to mine. They had to come and download a file from mine which is sent to Germany and a new file is sent back which gets uploaded to get it set up. Seems a bit long-winded but don't care as long as it works.

Our spreader only the 2nd isobus by my dealer but I'm happy with it.

According to the current configurator, section control and Variotronic TI automatic are options (not free). At the moment I'm not interested about section control because we have the Amazone GPS Switch screen and the sprayer is older than the Isobus capable ones. I could be interested about the automatic actuation of headland control (not only to activate steering but to trigger other headland control operations too at VarioGuide control). At the moment I only have the screen with a an option to turn on/off a beep tone when crossing the headland border line. Will have to talk to the dealer, I assume the service guy would then activate the feature.

It is a Profi-Plus tractor, equipped with VarioGuide RTK.

Variotronic TI automatic

Automatic engagement of Variotronic TI headland
management sequences on field boundaries
requires C235 or C236 or C238. requires C332.

I only have the bleep, you are going to have to talk to the dealer to find out what else can be done. This is beyond my limited knowlege. Let us know how you get on.

Not tried this yet, on our tractor I have the go and end button 1 set up to engage the steering, I would like to set up go and end 2 to operate the start and stop of the isobus spreader (Bogballe) at the headland. Currently press button on touch screen but would like it on the joystick.

Is this possible.

I have tried this and have not had any luck so far. I have been told that it may work if you have auto section control but I am not sure this is correct. I suspect that fendt and bogballe need to have a word with each other. With the latest software its been a bit of a problem getting the coverage to show on the screen but I have got there now.

If you learn how to do it let me know
