Fert prices vs fallow ?

It depends on what you think the selling price is going to be for the produce, could make you a low cost/higher profit guy next year! It's the following year that is going to be a problem if it continues, and it all depends on how N intensive your crops are! And finally what will you do with the assets that are freed up from doing the farm work? Could have fallow with N fixing, peas and beans then all first wheat the following year?
I grow rye on 150kg N and wheat on 190kg N. Only applied P is on carrots and potatoes. Vari rate K and don't use masses of that due to keeping all straw on the farm. have been using as much chicken litter as I can get my hands on as well.

As anyone done any work with undersowing clover into grain crops ,
How as you then can't use any herbicides for grass weed control.

I think there has been some trials with clover under cereal and I’m sure there was a thread on it here.

Got to be in it, to win it.
Used to do it organically. If it wasn't combined at the right time, you ended up with a wet soggey mess in September that was a nightmare to combine, and decidedly iffy straw.

No. it was grown organically. Probably best done in drier parts of the UK, and owning a combine rather than using contractors a must.........

Continuous clover will never work sustainably. Its been tried loads of times
Depends what stage of the rotation you are and if you've already put hundreds of acres already into non-productive uses...

i plough up 60 acres of clover filled grazing ground each year, usually cut the N back to 85 units and still outyields sb on the continous cereal ground
