Fertiliser price for those that miss it in Arable section

Yes but, but, but, the new regulations when they are enforced next year will mean that I’m not allowed to spread a thousand tons of my own slurry on my own land. Great logic that!
Hopefully some of the beauracratic nonsense like that will get left behind at least in the short term. If farmers can't grow any food because they can't afford fertiliser and there's no wheat or eggs or milk for Boris to have his egg and soldiers with his cup of tea every morning he might just tell them to forget that new legislation for a bit!

because they would need to order it to allow delivery time etc etc?

Fertiliser was never exactly scarce before. Anyone could rock up and take 6 ton home at their convenience. It may seem inconceivable but many of the hill stock men would just buy what they need for the rounds of grazing. Those on poorer land it was always two cwt per acre of 20.10.10 and they wouldn’t hear of anything else.

As above too, winter stores sold late March/April to go to those on lowlands whilst the cows and calves stay in until May.

Just had a price for Nitram. £955/ton for artic load and CF 24-8-8 plus sulphur at £905/ton, again artic loads. If you haven’t yet secured your Spring fertiliser needs, don’t leave too long. Delivery dates now stretch two to three weeks hence and there may not be any to order again soon. Yara have shut their continental factories it seems.
Shut the whole lot down as far as im concerned at them prices im out !

i didnt realise how bad the situation was for stock farmers till i read this, ive bn speaking mostly grain guys that got fert cheap and selling wheat now, story couldnt be more different
Livestock farmers are being properly screwed at the moment.
I would say there's two very different types of arable farmer at the moment there are those that have still got a quarter, third or maybe half of there 2021 crop to sell and they bought there fert in June or July.
Then there's the other half who sold a lot off the combine and early on for £170 a ton and have only just bought their fert

To cover fert price increase, I need £6.85/kg deadweight for lamb, and store cattle to kick at the door of £3/kg

That doesn't include red diesel or feed price hikes. Nor does it include whatever crazy money straw bedding will be

Something has to give
you forgot electric! ⚡💡

its mental, im glad im a low user of fert but the stuff i have in shed i got for £235 ish and i thought that was dear !

just wont bother over 250 id rather have less stock.

surely it cant stack up for anything but wheat at over 900/t?
If not, there will be a lot of animals going for early slaughter this Spring and Summer. The first 120 units per acre may well pay somewhat with a rapid decline in viability as use increases. Many farmers will choose to just farm through it, but a large number just will not be able to afford it and to carry on producing food at this rate.
