It is sad though. I used to lead out of Cleveland potash. Could get as far south as Plymouth and as far N as Aberdeen and all the points in between. I know it's all gone but that doesn't make it any better for the 200 lads who have lost their jobs. I used polysulphate last year and will get some more this, but don't think it is a true replacement for MOP.
Yeah i get what your saying but if its gone its gone.
Its like Fisherman who i have family connected with i wind them up.
They are all retired from the job now as it finished a fair few years ago.
But they just fished n fished never put nowt back it was like a free for all.
Everything we do as farmers is so diff, if you dont put wither it be the seed or fert or agchems whatever
in there first you have nowt to sell, just the same with animals.
They dont just appear for nowt & you sell them.
I know they had quotas etc etc & can only fish upto a certain size.
such a diff job to working on the land, yet very often held to ransom with the price of there end product.

am not blowing me own trumpet but u all could have had the best of Nitrogen for under £180 if ordered in june17.
Its never cheaper throught the winter months & thats a Fact.
Now i understand if you had nowhere to put it etc etc & or couldn't afford it.
Its nearly at the point it would pay off to build even a temp structure to keep it dry for the savings thats all.
Stick it on 6months or 12months finance.
Just my 2p worth thats all

I agree with you but its not guaranteed to be cheaper June/July
Over the last 10 or so years there has been a couple where we were not better off buying in June/July and one year we where worse off
The main advantage i see is as soon as the weather is right you can get on, not sat waiting for the fert

fair comment, iam a mino in the fert job compared to some on here, but its 9/10times cheaper at the start of a new buying season
year in year out. I never used to do this but did always get sum at the latest after harvest but not at this time of year.
I even stuck my neck out & bought an extra wagon load of Nitram that wont be used until 2019 so atm i could
technically sell that & make a profit, but your not allowed to do that. i bet there's plenty who do.
Lets see where its at this may/june i'll put money on it not being a penny under £200

Fair comment. We booked most of our urea at £202. Bought another load, and one of Lithan recently as we a) planted more winter wheat than expected and b) no idea on bps cashflow. Could have been worse - urea got to £280 I think.

You can sell it on, you just need an agent with the right bits of paper to complete the deal!

Nowt spreads like Nitram tho..
Used LitFert/Lithan at me neighbours & wasnt as accurate
i only did 6 bags tho it wasnt enough to make adjustments.
Yeah what is the difference ??
i'll ask the Q. to my supplier
I know one thing i can do say a 11ha field here with say 200kg/ha of it & be within 10kg at the end of the field.
Bit of a Plug for KV GeoSpread coz its by far the most accurate fert i put thru mine.

What is the price of Nitram versus Lithan?
At the moment Lithan is £4-10 cheaper per tonne depending where in the country you are in relation to the ports it's been bought in to. However earlier in the season it was more often the case that Nitram was the same price or cheaper than Lithan.

More like £15 earlier in the week.

I'd pay £1/t premium for Nitram, only as the inner bags dont fall out and vex me.

Still cant beat good old granular urea. This year I am experimenting with all my spring nitrogen on in one go as urea in the seedbed.

I would probably pay 3 squid to have those bags tied in properly !!!!!!!!
But agree with Urea , spreads well and usually no bother , I will always have a load of AN in stock tho just in case we hit a dry spell at the wrong time

Heard too many horror stories with UREA so staying clear of it.
I tried the treated stuff but them taller bags what a pain in BLEEP.
it was no cheaper than Nitram in the end.

£4-10? Season start I got some at £180 when Nitram was similar. As of late the quotes I’ve got off one rep has been £10-£15 difference :bored:

Keep giving your money to the yanks :ROFLMAO:
