Im not sure what's going on with the urea price. Two merchants have said prices will be released the day after cereals but I didn't hear anything except one did phone to say one of his other customers had a surplus In his shed rom last year and I could have that at £280.Anyone know what Granulated 46 Urea prices are for Nov del Leicestershire?
It might be worth buying 50% and taking the average. Duties could easily come into play later in the year and I fear if it wasn’t for the importers CF would be even more aggressive.
But you are an importer? (Or you were in the guise of the old G)Or did the importers set their level at a discount to CF? One competitors rep told one of my customers they would wait till CF put a price out and put their price £10-15 below it what ever it was.......

Yara has been dearer right through. Any Yara fert is usually dearer than the rest. I’ve used it for years here gets me out the shxt every year with hard grazed silage groundThat’s a good price I paid £290 for Yara Amidas (40N 14S) but I like the fact it’s a proper granular compound and spreads really well. Never been so keen on the NS blended products.
I was talking to a haulier I know who does a lot of fert and he said they were getting ready to start moving urea in the next few weeks. He was just waiting for the dates the boats would be docking to be confirmed.
If the boats are due in why aren't the merchants trying to sell it?? Are they leaving it as late as possible be because the AN price is still creeping up and they can get a better price for the urea on the back of it???
The strange thing to me is that we are getting pressured to buy blue bag on the basis that it is the only price out there and people won’t even quote urea.
The fact that the importers have no urea in stock can be read in one of two ways:
A) they think the urea price will go so high that they will be left holding the baby as farmers will just buy AN
Or
B) they think the price will go down and so are frightened to stock up with Urea at current prices when it may trade cheaper over the coming months.
Although I keep getting fed the story that India et al are buying all the urea that normally comes here, from a liquidity and historical point of view, we are the safer bet. After what happened with the fuel tankers last week in the gulf, I’m fairly sure if I owned a ship full of Egyptian Urea, I would rather turn left when I got to the Med than right!
Personally I am banking on B
That's what I'm getting at. Acording to the people charged with moving it these cargos are on there way pretty imminently so why is no one trying to flog it.Unsure. Doubt that 23000t of urea is going to arrive with none sold already. Tbh I doubt much of a 2300t boat of urea would turn up unsold. But I don't really understand the mechanics of fertiliser sales at all.
Still pleased mine is here if new gear is going to be £280+
Thanks for the nautical advice!Ships don't turn left and right!
