What is the opinion that if these prices stay as strong as they are and around the world that usage will go down significant and crop yealds also then the balancing act of crop prices going up with shortages and do we buy some fert to apply to take advantage of higher crop prices ,who has a crystal ball ! Ore the opposite prices fall for crop, it's up in the air at the moment.

Farming always was a gamble, “Do ya feel lucky punk?” 🤣🤣

Strange times alright.

I think the majority of UK farmers can afford and cashflow these prices this year but if you are a Canadian with a sh!t harvest or elsewhere without a strong economy you kind of wonder if they'd bother buying it.

The price rise caught me by surprise so pinch of salt here.

The world is short. If India needs say 5m tons, will it a) leave it's majority peasant farmers with nothing or b) put hand in pocket? Now apply to UK. Where is the imported product coming from, and why would it come here?

Its not even winter in Europe. Expect Russia to turn the screw on countries it doesn't like next.

So basically, Russia is holding Europe to ransom for gas.
That's the crux of the matter.
At least, that's how it seems to me.
Why else is the gas price so high?
Because we need it, they have it, we don't really, so they can charge what they like.

Who has the supply?
Who has the demand?

Not Russia's fault - they build a pipe to Germany and all that bring is hassle! None of us would sell straw to a stock farmer at under market value in the hope that when grain is cheap they will pay a premium in return. Our complete lack of alternatives (nuclear) or storage is entirely our own fault.
