Was talking to my friend and said we were putting 4 bags Nitram an acre on

What if..........we get a spring/ early summer drought like 2020..........and a monsoon at harvest like 2020................and end up with 1.5 ton / acre ( SB ) ............like 2020 ?

There will be even less people able to buy fertiliser next year!
Just been informed by my Australian contact that urea went up $280/t last week, which has put it over $1000/t approx £550/t.
This really is a global problem and those that are holding out for a market collapse or cf to open up and start giving the stuff away, I say good luck to you.
The temptation to sell a ton/acre forward is also very tempting to me at current prices, but there's surely a big rise coming when the whole world cuts back on fert use and the subsequent smaller world harvest.
China's trying it's best to cripple the western world and doing quite a good job, they released a virus upon us all, ran our countries into massive debts and started a global recession which is yet to hit.
Now they're holding back the ingredients of life as we know it. I remember being told that wars would be fought over phosphate in our lifetimes by someone far more intelligent than me, he may be proved right soon.

Half the area destined for second wheat going in scheme. The rest will have to make do with only 100 units N per acre.

House prices have risen more than additional UK debt due to covid. It's a huge win for mr and Mrs early retired. Big loose for the young who will end up paying.
Just spoken to my organic neighbour, his yields for wheat are on average 1.9 tonne and acre, mine are 3.4 tonne an acre.
So using fertiliser at £600 per tonne at a rate of 190 kgs ha. That extra 1.5 tone of wheat will cost me in fert here is my maths please feel free to correct me.
1.9 t ac = 4.7 t ha out put at £180 = £846
3.4 t ac = 8.4 t ha output = £1512
Now the fert at £600 for 34.5 nitram at 190 kgs ha cost = £330 per ha
£1512 - 846 = £666 per ha or £269 per acre difference.
£666 per ha or £269 per acre difference of cost.
So without taking into account pesticides and spraying costs or fert spreading costs we are better off by £330 per ha. This is without premium potential of organic. Doesn't look great does it

I'm expecting more than £180
Same diffence for both systems what ever the price is. Its just a figure which is what I was offered for Nov 2022
Who knows where it's going , if everyone does 1.9 tonnes people will starve
Yes but why should we care our government will be happy for keeping all the luvvies happy with no nasty sprays or fertiliser
Also your mate could be an exception , presume he's a mixed farmer
If everyone does 1.9 £180 will deffo be too low
1 year to hold the country to ransom..... Uhm a bit like the fert companys. Our costs have the same problems
