Fertiliser Price Tracker

Fertiliser price has doubled and we are all jumping of a cliff but red diesel has doubled and hardly any body mentions it, both equally disastrous in my book!.
I bought nitrogen 12 months ago for £200, it’s more than doubled.
I can’t recall buying red below 50p in the last year or more, so it hasn’t doubled.
I only buy 3 or 4 times a year anyway, the last being just before things got silly at 60.9. Hopefully by time I need more diesel things will have settled down a bit, I’m not so confident on the price of fert before I need it next spring

The way the environmental climate is changing, the owners of that land over the road could be shooting themselves in the foot if they wish to sell for development one day.
The day can’t be far away if it’s not already here where developing such land will raise more objections than developing productive farmland, might even get additional protection through laws/planning policy
The day is already here. Every tree on it has had a preservation order slapped on it by somebody. Any work such as access roads etc is the subject of an environmental impact assessment with the District Planners and NE having to be consulted at every stage. They have spent about £10k an acre on consultancy and surveys and other than an outline plan of an access road system they have very little to show for it.

They’d have been better off renting it out as farmland for a peppercorn rent then, don’t know how much easier that would have made gaining the permissions for development but it sure as heck wouldn’t have made it more difficult

There is 25 acres diametrically opposite us that was never in IACS, SPS or BPS. It isn’t drained either. Nobody bothers with it. It’s rewilded by default. No expensive seed mixes or management needed. It’s turning into scrub. The owners hope to sell for industrial development tesss down the line but in the mean time it’s an excellent “free” nature reserve.
Sounds like it's so full of wild life and newts that they won't be allowed to develope it anyway. Much better keep it tidy and put unsightly curtainsiders etc. in there. Then at least nature won't be against you when wanting to develop.

I’m going to be very smug now. We bought a massive fuel tank when the price was at its lowest last year and have just started to use it. But being no till we don’t use a lot. We also bought most of our fert at the end of last season.
im sure the luck with the crystal ball will run out soon though, it doesn’t always go to plan.

Don't let it out you have a tank full of diesel or the traveling scum will help you use it .

Bet somebody somewhere's first thought was "hope it has got the fuel algae in it".
Good when a plan bears fruit.

We’ll I guess it can be, I think farming is going to go through a boom period. The main issue is the money buying land from outside agriculture which although prices have calmed abit there is still land going for crazy money.
my parents started with very little and borrowed to buy a reasonable bit of land (400 acres) I don’t know if I I will manage the same (or want to).
