There has been talk of extending the UK coal fired stations by another year prior to decommisioning. Germany is still committed to getting off coal by 2030, and they are committed to shutting their nuclear power plants by the end of 2022, although how likely that is now to happen is debatable. They only provide 4GW anyway.

We're not talking "proper" coal here. Mainly lignite. So its crap coal.

A change of leader might signal a change of direction here too.
Its unlikely that the push to renewables will halt. Moaning will reduce when winter fuel bill hits £4k.

Ukraine has sacked its top diplomat for Germany, just before the gas is shut off. This is going to be a kick-ass two weeks of diplomacy as Ukraine crys for Germany to punish Russia; Germay cries on Russia to turn the gas back on after ten days. Seems theyve done a top fudge to get the parts back from Canada. Mark the 21st July on your calendar as its going to be fascinating.
