Made a few calls this morning - apparently prices going up.

£249 was one quote.

😂- Received a call today from the same company who quoted £249 (bagged) last Monday. £248 today, and apparently lots of shipments booked this week by most importers as they’ve had to bite the bullet ahead of the thread of January tariffs.
No shortage of supplies in the short term.

Still doesn't mean they won't try and put the price up! :(

i heard Mole valley farmers have some inhibited urea fertilisers available at the moment. this should help lower N losses as they are said to be more efficient. The Irish livestock farmers seem to be getting on very well with protected urea. lots of info about it on the Teagasc website.
does not release steadily so if conditions are wrong there may be residual nitrogen in silage

Doesn't look like it's coming down I'm afraid. India likely to buy more and there's very little availability out of N. Africa, which is where the UK relies for tonnes. That is a good price and probably too cheap in todays market.... I await the barrage of comments/abuse 🙈

I imagine importers will be buying now (or very shortly) ahead of a potential no deal Brexit, as urea takes 10-15 days to ship from N. Africa. Whatever price the urea is purchased at now, will likely be the price into the spring. I doubt prices will change too much, unless a no deal Brexit, then a duty of 6% will apply from the 1st of Jan - which equates to circa £15/t. I know companies are struggling with haulage and this could be a challenge in the spring. The lack of FIAS assured lorries and Covid-19 pressures is a bit of an issue.

Isn't there an EU levy on it already or is it subject to tariff free quotas?

Anyone like to guess what urea price will do
Been quoted £243 but the rep keeps ringing every other day saying price is going to rise which makes me think it might drop:unsure:

Yes, the Egyptian manufacturers are up 10$ as of yesterday. There’s not a lot of UREA in circulation so I would think most importers are short.

Also the duty post December, obviously not 100% but could see 6.6% which would equate to around £12-15/t.

£243 from what i’ve heard isn’t a bad price. Market seems to be £246-£250. Considering it’s been £250-£255 for the past 4/5 months, and that’s just most places taking punts.
