Egyptian Urea price starting to fall, down $18.50 this week (y) :

at present prices what would egyptian urea equate to on farm do you really think cf are going to cut prices all fertiliser companies are very disliked at the present time and virtually no new season business has been done in n ireland at the present time

Current Egyptian FOB levels are $440-450. Shipping costs are a big factor, as previously shipping would have been circa $25 from Egypt to the UK, it is now more than double that...possibly put at $60/t. So at $445 FOB this equates approximately to $505 cif, which is around £400-405 on farm. As far as I'm aware, nothing of any note has been shipped to the UK or is due to be shipped. Farmers haven't bought urea in any quantity - I suspect only 10% of the UK market has been covered. Therefore, importers don't want/need to buy urea. The problem with this, is how to ship 90% of urea requirements in 3-4 months.

This is part of the dilemma - were seeing the complete lack of any available hauliage now. This may actually be a year where logistics doom and gloom actually turns out to be an issue. Think I will make a few calls today.

No point being wall to wall wheat if you've got no nitrogen.

This is true.

Equally, a shop without stock to tell doesn't remain in business very long either. The UK fertiliser market it worth quite a bit of business to companies.

Recent price increases (in everything from fertiliser to steel to timber) and the loss of BPS going forward are hanging on many farmers minds at the moment.

This comment seems to sum the sentiment up rather well...

FFS where will it end
