Let's calculate Ferts production cost!
One tonne of Urea cost 25 MMBTU of natural gas and 80% of Urea production cost is on the cost of natural gas is $5/MMBTU at Henry's hub...hence, $125/MMBTU cost of LNG, add another 20% for covering other cost...arrived at $150/tonne urea production cost...which is about 109 poundsterling/tonne...

with brexit, covid and now gas, all these impact to a large degree on the magical food supply chains, the just in time policy, is beginning to look decidedly uncertain. Will this give a boost to home produced food ?
it certainly should, and good news if it does, but that's a big if. With fert at a silly price, there will be less used, which means less home product available, less means higher prices, usually. Transport costs are going to rise, with both wages, and fuel costs, so imported product will cost more. The news this morning, is really giving it a lot of coverage, even got a pig farmer on live ! So, in a funny sort of way, this might just be a positive thing for UK ag product.

Less convenient than lowering batches of pigs into a gas chamber I expect, but surely it is possible to revert to electrical stunning with some changes to the line?
