One day soon the media will realise we are farmers, not alchemists.
We can’t manufacture enough food for 6 billion people from good intentions and thin air, we need artificial nitrogen, and that drug you refer to is the one thing keeping the worlds population well fed and not at each other’s throats.

The day after the global panic sets in, all the ‘experts’ currently slagging off farming (Guardian / Monbiot, BBC, vegans, urban ‘environmentalists’) will be screaming at farmers for not producing enough food, and letting millions of acres of grass go to waste….

Well I've planted as much as usual and booked fert at an extortionate price, so yes I'm long, but not all in, yet.

By selling nothing and commiting to grow the stuff I've took a long position. That's about as much risk as I'm prepared to take, but if I had money to risk, buying wheat futures at nov22 price even as high as it is could still be a big earner.
By selling something and pricing it up I am going long GBP, something which can be diluted at the stroke of a keyboard ...

How come french fert is still a reasonable price?
For those who know Star Wars, it's like r2d2 and Chewbacca playing dejarik.

Han: Let him have it. It’s not wise to upset a Wookiee.
C-3PO: But sir. Nobody worries about upsetting a droid.
Han: That’s cause a droid don’t pull people’s arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.
C-3PO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, R2. Let the Wookiee win.

C3po, R2 and droids in general are UK farmers. French farmers are represented by Wookiees.

£630 for urea coated in that stuff that stops it disappearing into the atmosphere. I patted myself on the back for getting it right last year, brought fert cheap sold grain high. Got it wrong this year quite dramatically. Unlike some, can't get it all the time!
Snap, got arse raped @ £650 for Pulan, Urea was na but with a passing comment of £720 if I really wanted it!!!!
