Beans are fine for sheep, they crunch them whole, few teeth go though.
Cattle and pigs are a different matter though.

I don’t doubt they can physically eat them, but that doesn’t make them good quality protein.
The only experience I have of them was after splitting them in a mill and fed with barley and molasses (on my sandwich year farm in 1989).

Maybe this is a reset. I recon Russia and China have sat round the table. Played a blinder. Russia cuts the gas supply. While China says ok we’ll stop exporting urea. Farmers average yield is 6 tonne hectare in the Uk but we get triple the price. Climate is sorted and the regenerative farmers are happy because there the one who have looked after there soils.

Home production is ,indeed,King.Trouble is Boris and Co can't see beyond their nose and want to do trade deals all over the World.We export meat to Asia and New Zealand sends some back.Great for the climate

I know of a few round here who fattened bulls on ad lib home grown barley and beans, couldn’t fault the cattle. You’re going to get a top on them when your protein source is also full of starch

I don’t but they were straightforward types of guys so I assume enough beans to make the ration 14% CP as was standard advice at the time. This was back in the early nineties when dairy bred barley bulls were mainly killed at 11-12 months at 470-500kg

Beans could all go into uk pig sector. We have replaced some of the imported soya with up to 20% beans. No N requirement

Yep used to fatten bulls on them. Sold them for the last 2 years as they are a twit to roll.
