With rewilding and longer term fallow conservation etc, where does that leave one on APR should one kick the bucket?🤔

Fallow is farming, always has been, long before things like 4 course rotations etc even ??

Re wilding ........ ermm not so sure that is by any definition I can see so could be serious implications for those going down that route IMO. (and rightly so !!)

Bit the bullet and ordered the other half ish of my 27N 12SO3 at ÂŁ605. Thankfully got the first half at ÂŁ280. Was waiting for it to come down but can't risk it any longer with Mr. Putin flexing his muscles. Also ordered all of P & K.

My whole fert bill is going to be up by ÂŁ16.5k year on year. 51% allocated to what should end up as 380t of wheat. That's an extra ÂŁ22/T. Lets hope prices remain strong.

I’ve never used urea before this year, so question I’m going to ask is urea applied at the same time as AN or does it need to be spread earlier?
Can be earlier if convenient, but doesn't have to be. Just don't be late.

E.g. get all first doses on by end of Feb if poss, finish all later doses by end of first week in April. (End of March better if feasible).
Any doses needed after that, don't use urea

Needs to be washed into the soil or at least soaked up by soil moisture fairly soon after application as it can vaporise, more so as soils warm. Best practice has always been to apply ahead of a rain event, even if only a couple of mm.
Not a problem in north Cumbria either, though would of been last year

we are also all missing the biggest issue

if uk fertiliser plants do not produce the fertiliser because gas is over 3 time higher than last summer the import needs of the uk will be much larger
million tonnes or so ?
if that has to be an storage and delivery issues will be much more complicated
Agree. But there’s capacity at the existing facilities to cope without two domestic plants.
The problem would be trying to service this demand in a short window. Logistically speaking, the industry needs 8-10 months to service the demands, not crushed into 6 months or less. Pool buying may be a solution…. For sure, the current set up is flawed.
