I didn’t apply any bagged K on a field last year. Was index 3.9. It did get about 40kg/Ha from poultry litter before 1st cut but that was it. 1st cut 6.5TDM/Ha, 2nd 5T, 3rd 4T. Tested after and only dropped to index 3.5, thought it would have dropped further.
how accurate is the testing, it's only a minute sample, of a big area.

Fair enough, it was on a live discussion group on Twitter last night and the merchant/trader from Ireland said there was no urea landing so everyone was having to use NPK compounds and CAN as there was no urea coming in.

🤷🏼‍♂️
I think the bigger problem is that a lot farmers are holding back from purchasing and therefore warehouses are full ! Hence wholesalers aren’t purchasing additional fertilizer and risking price fluctuation,,, if farmers aren’t committed/committing…
The biggest danger could be getting fertilizer in March/ April if farmers don’t purchase now …

by my calculations, about 80kt of Urea has been lined up and shipped to Ireland for the 21/22 season. A little behind the normal volumes but certainly enough to get going. Any chat about none available is just scaremongering.

No idea what he was on about then, he said that there had been very little farmer commitment at the higher prices so no one was prepared to risk buying vessels at the higher prices, incase it didn’t moveI took it as the truth as was a forum of some fairly respected global players. Happy to be wrong as was wondering how TF they were going to cope with just NPK compounds and CAN.

Don't think there's much if any urea available to N Ireland going forward .

My guess is they have expensive stuff in stock and want some panic buying before the cheaper new stuff arrives.. that what I would be doing in the same position.

No don’t think so, wasn’t that kind of forum, it was a grain discussion, would recommend anyone to join it, had some good speakers from Brazil and Ukraine on, there was no axe to grind from a sale point of view, he mentioned it to highlight the issues around supply and potential impacts globally on grain yields.

Same with glyphosate, perceived shortage price goes sky high, but everybody still gets what they want just have to pay a lot more. Be interesting to know how much less has been used in the UK, my guess is about 5 percent
There were people round here that really struggled to get glyphosate last autumn.
Literally a tale of two halves.
Bought early when cheap. Fine.

Didn't get warned of increases so tried buying in the autumn, very, very short on supply.
Some were being recommended 2 litres as that's all they could get .
