this could be the traditional cereals week start for new season prices but brought forward a bit.
Interesting times for the merchants and for the manufacturers.

Will the weight of cash from late sellers 2021 crop immediately all come their way?

Or will other cost pressures, dire current prospects of drought, farmers' innate caution and/or banking covenants now combine to frustrate them?

:LOL::LOL:

Yup. But im struggling to find a document saying that India has formally applied sanctions on Russian fertiliser. My Google-fu is weak today.
I was taking my lead from the tender instructions

would be a big risk to offer tonnes outside of the parameters

Meanwhile, hearing that Sri Lanka are engaging discussions with Russian producers directly to secure ferts. The same Sri Lanka that defaulted on their debt and the same Sri Lanka that declared a few years back that no ferts would be required at all... I had no idea George Useless was Sri Lankan. Nevertheless, there's not much relevance to Sri Lanka's buying compared to India. The volume is tiny by comparison

To be fair on India, they were seeming keen to relax restrictions on oil when the hint of some cheap gear arose. Im not going through the entire tender document, but experience of farm tenders where the highest offer needs not be taken, a quick phone call once prices are in might be in order.

not at all a trick question...more an ethical debate

if you were offered Russian material, or Iranian which is also sanctioned, would you have any problem accepting it?

similarly, would you care where your output was sold?

Its a question that elected officials answer.

My main concern with where my crops go is that a) the buyer can pay and b) it doesnt go to Kerrys.

I suppose I personally would have no issue accepting Russian or Iranian material if it were available. Because I dont really see them as "the baddies". Its not like I have a choice to take a domestic UK owned urea supplier. Egyptian stuff has always been good and yet the Egyptians have not always been on the "friendly" list. Sanctions can flip-flop quite readily. It was suggested to me that things that prolong the conflict are bad - I suggested they may prefer Harry Truman method of bringing wars to a quick end. They did not understand the reference.

These days, very little is simple.
