Better farmer than me if you can earn enough in 4 years to pay for the fifth. I remember years ago telling you that if your farm is as heavy and wet as you say it should be grass. Your strategy of not buying makes more sense in the light of that but don't expect everyone else to be in a similar position.

does staffordshire have any heavy land? or do they think they have?

No end of people have cut their application levels down. Some as low as 60kg/ha on wheat Which is just foolish.

Depends on the situation .
my first wheats came out of the winter looking very well, so I’ve only applied 100 units . Looking ok this evening . Proof will be at harvest, but happy with my decision .

It's the turds and the soil. My brother will have some cracking wheat but the land it's on has a legacy of loads of turds and grass.

I've reduced by 30kg/ha N hoping they the boffins were right and with the dry winter we would have 50kg N carry over. Also gone on over 4 splits, using slightly more snake oil (Uplift and Ultrisha) everything looks well to date.

Just trying it missed a few tramlines to see if I can notice any effect. Without yield meter on the combine it will be hard to get a very good test. Applied on its own very easy to out through sprayer.

Feed Conversion Rate. The bigger the beast, the worse the FCR drops. Starts at 1kgs of meat for 4/5kgs of cereal to 1 kg of meat to 10kgs(or more) of cereal. Takes 5kgs of cereal to hold a 500kg beast at that weight.

CF volumes are on allocation. Wholesalers don’t have the volume to offer to buying groups.

Good morning. I just wanted to respond to your comment regarding buying groups and volumes available. It is absolutely correct that some products have been on allocation across the entire UK, whether to merchant or to buying group. Therefore, across the board, supply issues have prevailed and will continue to do so. However, while I appreciate "buying groups" to be a very general reference, I wanted to be absolutely clear that many Woldmarsh members have been planning forward purchases, considering alternatives well in advance and were able to book their solid fertilizers to the tonnage of their choice. Bread beef and beer will be 4 times current prices and we will be able to go to the pub in our new Land Rover Defenders and bragg that we don't get any subsidies. Or maybe not, it's anyone's guess

Ah we will have the "British Production Suppliment". A flat rate £100/ac for all lowland, and a headage payment for stock. This will require much govt expenditure on a brand new IT solution, outsourced to an IT company via its Cayman Island subsiduary and featuring the patronage of many ex-MPs on its board.

Ahh, you've also noticed how efficiently parliamentary elite profit from previous IT solutions

Of course, it won't be a flat rate fee and headage payment the new IT system will oversee.....

...... It'll be an assurance scheme that requires total compliance to permit sale of produce

We'll pay for membership, annual inspection, and access to the central database that keeps our records

In return for adhering to ever more ludicrous lengthy laws, they won't permit the market to be swamped by totally unregulated imports

Well, they can rent all my land from me in return for simply delivering one ton of wheat per acre to my central storage space. Bit like British Sugar. See if they can do better.
